The Counselor/Psychologist will provide counseling, programmatic outreach and related services to the University of Baltimore’s diverse student population, consulting with campus constituents and local mental health providers as needed. The incumbent will work closely with other staff members within the Counseling Center to provide comprehensive care to the students of UB.
The main responsibility of the successful candidate will be to provide culturally sensitive assessment and counseling services to students, through both individual and group sessions, that meet a wide range of students’ mental health and developmental needs, as well as provide crisis management and emergency intervention services as required.
The incumbent will serve as a consultant to members of the university community, parents and local and students’ home mental health providers, among others.
As a member of the Division of Student Affairs, the incumbent will participate and represent the Counseling Center on student life and campus-wide committees, as appropriate and collaborate with Counseling Center staff and other offices in the Division on programming and other student success efforts.
Education: Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling or a related field. Licensed in Maryland as a Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).
Experience: Three years working with a diverse population.
Education: An APA accredited doctoral degree in counseling or clinical psychology; licensed in Maryland as a psychologist.
Experience: Five years’ experience working with a multicultural population and/or military related individuals.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The successful candidate will be able to show experience and demonstrated competence in both individual and group counseling with diverse populations including, but not limited to, non-traditionally aged students, domestic and international students, students of color, LGBTQ+ students, first generation college students, students with disabilities and students of various ethnicities, cultures and religious backgrounds. The candidate will be able to show proven commitment to the highest legal and ethical professional standards and have strong interpersonal skills including listening, writing and in oral communications. The successful candidate will show proven ability to successful assess students’ mental health needs and offer appropriate responses, have strong consultation skills, demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with others and the ability to perform well under stress and in emergency situations.
The successful candidate will have proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use institutional software systems.

To provide case management services, short term counseling, support groups, and information and referral services to seniors (60+) and disabled adults and caregivers.
