Biographical Information
I'm Denise Adams, MS,NCC,LCPC,
I offer compassionate, trauma-informed care with a focus on self-compassion and healing. My practice is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate life’s most challenging moments, providing a safe space for growth and support.
My Approach
I believe in meeting clients where they are, using an eclectic approach that incorporates Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), positive psychology, and other tailored techniques. Self-compassion is at the heart of my practice, and I work collaboratively with clients to help them build resilience and inner strength through both structured therapeutic techniques and compassionate presence.
Background & Specialized Experience
With 18 years in the Howard County Public School System and a decade on the county crisis team, I’ve supported families in finding stability and accessing crucial resources. My work at HopeWorks, (the IPV and SA center in Howard County), deepened my commitment to trauma work. In my role with the National Family Reunification Center (NFRC),I help families in co-parenting and reunification transitions. These experiences bring a broad perspective to my private practice, allowing me to support clients facing trauma, life transitions, and relational challenges.
Supporting Emerging Therapists
As an approved clinical supervisor, I’m passionate about nurturing the growth of new therapists. I provide a supportive, self-compassionate environment for LGPC candidates, helping them develop their unique styles and guiding them through the complexities of clinical work. For those seeking mentorship or guidance, I’m here to walk alongside you on this professional journey.
