Psychodrama Workshop - The Wisdom of the Body in Trauma Recovery - 04/07/2024

Monday, February 19, 2024 11:17 AM | Catherine Nugent

J.L. Moreno (1889-1974), the originator of psychodrama, once said: “The body remembers what the mind forgets.” During this one-day, introductory-level workshop, we explore ways the embodied brain can rewire itself to promote recovery and healing through psychodrama and related experiential methods. Key concepts from the field of relational neuroscience that give new credence to Moreno’s insights are explained, including: neuroplasticity, the role of secure attachment, and the Window of Tolerance. Techniques from sensorimotor psychotherapy, somatic experiencing, yoga as therapy, and other body-based and creative approaches are integrated with psychodramatic role-play. Participants leave with ideas and techniques they can apply in their work settings, as well as renewed appreciation for the profound resiliency of the human body, mind, and spirit.
