The Smith Counseling Group is a multi-disciplinary private practice serving clients across the Washington, DC and Maryland area, with a clinical focus on trauma and eating disorders. We're looking for a licensed clinician to join our team as we grow this specialty area — someone who wants to build deep expertise in eating disorder treatment while being part of a supportive, clinically rigorous practice.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a therapist who is:
- Clinically strong — solid foundational skills and good judgment, with a genuine interest in doing excellent work with clients
- Mature and responsible — reliable, professional, and able to manage a caseload independently once ramped up
- Hard-working and coachable— willing to put in the effort to learn a new specialty, and open to supervision and feedback
- Drawn to the structure of a clinic setting — you may be earlier in your career, or transitioning from a different setting, and are looking for the stability, mentorship, and built-in referral base of an established practice rather than solo private practice
**No prior eating disorder treatment experience required.** We're specifically looking for someone excited to develop this specialty — training and supervision will be provided (see below).
What You'll Be Doing
- Building and managing a full-time outpatient caseload focused on eating disorders and trauma
- Participating in regular clinical supervision as you develop ED-specific competencies
- Collaborating with referring providers (dietitians, physicians, higher levels of care) as part of a coordinated treatment approach
Training & Development
New to eating disorder treatment? We'll support your growth through:
- Six months of dedicated, biweekly clinical supervision focused specifically on eating disorder treatment
- A continuing education budget to support one ED-focused training of your choice
-Certification in eating disorder treatment and EMDR
Qualifications
- Master's degree in counseling (MA) or social work (MSW), or PhD in psychology
- Active, unrestricted license to practice independently in Maryland (e.g., LCSW-C, LCPC, or licensed psychologist)
What We Offer
- 50% fee-split compensation (1099 contractor position) with income up to $200K+
- Full-time caseload (30+ client hours per week), with a 3-6 month ramp-up period to reach full caseload
- Primarily in-person, with a mix of telehealth sessions
- Mentorship and a built-in referral network as you grow into the specialty
