    Juvenile Pretrial Services is currently recruiting individual contractual providers (fee for service) to meet with children and adolescents who have been found “incompetent to proceed” in juvenile court delinquency proceedings and provide these youth with services to help them attain competency to proceed. The providers are to be (i) licensed social workers/professional counselors or (ii) educators who are certified to provide educational services to a special needs child and adolescent population. Providers must have worked with the court-involved child and adolescent population for at least two years post-baccalaureate and have a working knowledge of the juvenile justice system. Juvenile Competency Attainment Services will be provided based on court orders received.

    Attainment Services may be provided in the home, an institution, a school setting, or other public place, as determined to be appropriate by the provider and the Office of Juvenile Pretrial Services. 

    ** due to COVID-19 concerns, virtual services are allowed, however there is an expectation that in-person services  will resume in the future. As such, the applicant will need to have the flexibility to provide services in-person.

    Compensation for Competency Attainment Services will be $77.00/hour  plus reimbursement for mileage for in-person services. While we are looking for applicants throughout the state of Maryland, preferred applicants must be available to provide services in any of the following counties: (Eastern Shore, Western and Southern Maryland Counties). 

    Attainment Service Provider Specifications:

    1. Must be a licensed counselor (LGPC, LCPC), Social worker (LMSW, LCSW-C), or special educator. 

    2. Provide Attainment Services two-three times weekly for one hour each session, unless there is a need for another arrangement to be made (e.g., due to behavioral needs of the youth, change in schedule of the legal guardian). 

    3. Providers are required to have the capacity to submit documents electronically in IBM compatible format (word, PDF) and have the ability to password protect documents.

    4. Ability to pass a criminal background check.

    We are a 29-bed residential treatment center for adolescent and young adult males located in Parkville, MD (near Towson) has an immediate opening for a full time residential Clinical Therapist. The primary goal of the program is to support each youth with changing unhealthy thinking and poor decision making to more adaptive and pro-social behaviors.

    Clinical Therapist

    Job Description:
    Chesapeake Treatment Center Inc., provides a comprehensive continuum of treatment for adolescents and young adults that experience complex mental health, sexualized behaviors, trauma, substance abuse, gang and other related issues. Clinical programs include assessment, residential care, mental health, prevention, special education and psycho-educational services. This Clinical Therapist position will understand criminal conduct in adolescents and be able to treat youth from a perspective of lowering criminogenic risks and increasing protective factors the youth presents with and addressing the relationship between mental health issues and criminal conduct. The Clinical Therapist will utilize a strength based perspective, cognitive behavioral theory and trauma informed care. Our programs are accredited by the Joint Commission (JCAHO).

    This includes (but not limited to):

    • Provide intensive individual, group and family therapy for a caseload of approximately 8-10 patients.
    • Maintains and appropriately files progress notes for each therapy session.
    • Conducts assessments of new patients.
    • Conducts psycho-social assessments, diagnoses patients and develops treatment plans.
    • Acts as a liaison with outside agencies such as the Department of Juvenile Justice, MD Health Partners.
    • Provides crisis intervention
    • Demonstrate an understanding and sensitivity to serving a culturally divers and/or special needs population.

    • Provides clinical case consultation to assist milieu and clinical staff with development of effective and therapeutic interventions with patients.
    • Maintains and appropriately files progress notes for each therapy session.
    • Conducts assessments of new patients.
    • Conducts psycho-social assessments, diagnoses patients and develops treatment plans.
    • Identify clinical staff training needs and provide clinical personnel w/ training.
    • Assist with the development and coordination of milieu and clinical training opportunities.
    • Provides in-service training for milieu staff in areas such as suicide prevention, working with youth who have been the victims of abuse or domestic violence.
    • Assist with clinical coverage needs as they arise.
    • Acts as a liaison with outside agencies such as the Department of Juvenile Justice, MD Health Partners.

    Job Requirements:

    • MD Board Certified LCPC or LCSW-C (Clearly Indicated License on Your Resume for Consideration)
    • 2-4 years Post Clinical License
    • Master's Degree

    Preferred Requirements:

    • Area of college/graduate concentration: Counseling, Social Work or Social Services
    • 5-8 years Post Clinical License
